The Canyon Land Conservation Fund, a local Orange County non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the few remaining wild lands of the Santa Ana Mountains, is hosting The 9th Annual TreeHuggr's Ball and Sustainability Fair on June 1st, 2013 at the Santiago Event Center near the proposed Blackstar Wilderness Park in Silverado Canyon.

The TreeHuggr's Ball is an acclaimed "ZERO WASTE" event and features an environmental expo of
local sustainable goods and businesses, arts & crafts, environmental groups, a silent auction, guest speakers, no host beer, wine and margartita bar along with 5 hours of music and dancing to award winning folk, Reggae, and Rock n' Blues musicians. Hungry treehuggers will have a choice of the excellent vegetarian cuisine offered by Seabirds Food Truck while meat lovers enjoy the locally grass-fed beef choices of Barcelona On The Go.

This year's music line up includes a Native American experience as the Acjachemen women bless the event in song and storytelling. The Acjachemen, also known as the Juaneno Band Of Mission Indians, will also be exhibiting their ancient cultural arts and crafts as well. The greener hillbilly bluegrass tunes of the Salty Suites, led by So Cal mandolin master Scott Gates and singer-songwriter Chelsea Williams, will surely git'yer feet 'a hoppin and a dancin at suppertime!

7-11 pm the TreeHuggr's Ball turns into a backwoods dance party of costumed dancers, blues lovers and reggae rockers! Back again by popular demand to pull off a Reggae-Ska dance party will be our new friends Better Chemistry, led by singer songwriter Dave Monaco. In 2012 this reggae and brass band joined the crowd in a New Orleans style music parade.

Highlighting the 2013 THB dance party will be two Southern California musicians sure to make you glad you bought a ticket...blues harmonica master Rod Piazza of the Mighty Fliers and Nick-I Hernandez, lead singer of Common Sense. Both these fabulous musicians are stars of the new Wyland Blues Planet Project raising awareness of environmental stewardship of our lands and oceans.
